Molli's Service Dog Academy
Training Program:
First, we'll visit for a consultation to meet you and your dog. We'll perform a Temperament Test of your dog you'd like to train (not all dogs are suited for this kind of work and I have a strong stance that I do not want to put a dog into this type of work that I do not believe will truly enjoy it) & provide more detail about how the program and training will work. We'll also discuss your goals and needs, come up with a task list, discuss your goals for training, and answer any additional questions you may have.
**** If you have a dog weighing under 15 lbs we recommend against doing public access work and sticking with at home/work only. This is because there are safety risks to such small dogs including physical injury or even death from accidentally being kicked or stepped on. If you are still wanting to train your dog to be able to work out in public, you will be required to sign a liability waiver ***
Next, we will help you work through our program going at your pace and tailoring things based on your individual needs and circumstances. We'll come to your home or meet you out in public to work with you and your dog depending on your needs that day. We can work as often or as little as you'd like - whatever fits with your time and/or financial constraints that month. Training a Service Dog takes an average 18-24 months dependent on a number of factors. Check out my blog post, "How Long Will it Take to Train My Dog as a Service Dog?" for more information.

While working in my program you must also be able to adhere to the following training standards;

You will receive a "Molli's Service Dog Academy" certificate once you have completed testing. In addition, I will gladly back you up whenever you need it, contacting businesses, landlords, and employers on your behalf at your request.*

Molli's Service Dog Academy Test*:
Once training is completed, if you would like for me to continue to "back you up" and assist you should you ever run into any issues out in public, you and your dog must pass Molli's Service Dog Academy Public Access Test. This is a rigorous test with high standards that match or exceed those commonly required by top organizations that train Service Dogs, helping to ensure you and your dog are the best of the best! It can take anywhere from 2-3 hours to complete the test.
When you pass my test, you will be confident knowing you are a Service Dog team that equals or exceeds other teams you meet! You will receive a Molli's Service Dog Academy certificate as part of the testing fee. In addition, I will gladly back you up whenever you need it, contacting businesses, landlords, and employers on your behalf at your request.
Re-testing is done annually to ensure you and your dog have maintained the high training standards required of Molli's Service Dog Academy. Re-testing includes an updated certificate.
*Please note that this test only acts as a confirmation of completed training. No certification is recognized by the ADA as legal confirmation of a dog's status as a service dog. If you do not meet the ADA requirements for a service dog, no amount of training or certification will make your dog a legal service dog.

Please note that I do not employ the use of e-collars, prong collars, or choke chains. The top Service Dog organizations agree that dogs that require the use of stronger corrections, a heavy hand in order to handle, that have high drives, or that require the use of such tools in order to focus or keep attention on their handler do not have a desirable temperament in order to be a Service Dog. Service Dogs require very soft temperaments and should have a natural sensitivity towards people. Because of this, along with several other reasons, these devices are not used in our service dog program.
