What Kind of Working Dog Do You Need?
It is common for individuals to confuse the terms, "Service Dog," "Therapy Dog," and "Emotional Support Animal." Each of these is a type of working dog, but each has a very different role and each is governed by different laws regarding public access, housing, public transportation, and access to the workplace. It can all be very confusing and difficult to keep track of. Even doctors, therapists, veterinarians, and dog trainers often get them mixed up. Before you read further, I recommend reading my blog post, Service Dog, Therapy Dog, or Emotional Support Animal, to make sure you are in the right place. What is a Service Dog?
According to Federal ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) law, a Service Dog is a dog trained to perform actual physical tasks for a DISABLED individual that directly relate to and assist with or help mitigate his or her disability. The disabled individual has the right to have a Service Dog with him or her in all public access locations. Note that if you are not disabled, you do not qualify to have a Service Dog. If the dog cannot perform actual, physical tasks for you to assist with your disability, he or she is NOT a Service Dog. Obtaining comfort or emotional support simply through the dog's presence does not qualify as a Task and does NOT give you the legal right to take the dog with you into public places.

About my Program:
I recognize that owner-trained Service Dogs often don't get the same levels of respect that Service Dogs trained and certified with an organization get. This is silly! Many uneducated business owners will ask for certification and ID badges - and then try to deny access (not realizing that it is illegal for them to do so) when you explain that you don't have any. I also recognize that many disabled handlers don't wish to train their dogs with an organization - or, for a variety of reasons beyond their control, are unable to get a Service Dog from an organization. Many individuals in this situation are overwhelmed at the prospect of training a Service Dog by themselves.
This is why I've created Molli's Service Dog Academy; this allows you to get the best of both worlds! I provide any help you need in owner-training your dog - and since you are working with a trainer, I will back you up should you run into any trouble out in public, helping you gain the extra "clout" and respect you deserve when you're working out in public.
I can assist you in training a Service Dog for a wide variety of needs. This includes:

*** If you have a dog weighing under 15 lbs we recommend against doing public access work and sticking with at home/work only. This is because there are safety risks to such small dogs including physical injury or even death from accidentally being kicked or stepped on. If you are still wanting to train your dog to be able to work out in public, you will be required to sign a liability waiver ***
